Meet Wendy

~ Aw, this bio is so cute to me now! I’m almost twice as old as when this photo was taken in 2007. It’s staying up as a monument to past me…until I repurpose this name into something else.~

I live in the vibrant Pacific Northwest with two calico cats and a growing family. As a teen, I spent every summer at my grandparents’ cabin. Between hikes with our pack llamas, I stole my great grandmother’s romance novels and escaped into wonderful worlds full of passionate kisses and secret adventures.

My favorite author of all time is Anne McCaffrey. I also love Nalini Singh, Jennifer Crusie, and Meg Cabot. On the literary side, I love Jane Austen, Banana Yoshimoto, and HP Lovecraft. Please friend me on Facebook and chat about novels on GoodReads!

I have wanted to be a writer since fifth grade. Since then, I have won awards for my romance. In addition to sci fi, I also write epic fantasy.

Here is my manifesto of what I do and do not write.

The credits/brags: I graduated magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark College with a degree in philosophy and a minor in English. I volunteered with Literacy*AmeriCorps, taught English in Japan with the JET Programme for three years, and lived abroad in England and Greece. I love travel! After completing a master’s degree at the University of Brighton, I returned to books and now work in an academic library.

Official Media Author Bio

Wendy Lynn Clark is from the vibrant green Pacific Northwest. She writes contemporary and science fiction romance with sexy heroes and undefeatable heroines, as well as sweeping epic fantasy and creative nonfiction. Her words are infused with wonders from her travels—teaching in Japan for three years, earning her MA in Brighton, and studying abroad in Greece. When she’s not hiking in the Cascade mountain range, she’s writing on her couch with a steaming cup of tea and her two snuggly calico cats.

Her books are a mix of soaring imagination, blockbuster action, and thrilling romance. They are recommended for anyone who enjoys a well-told story with a happy ending guaranteed.

Unofficial Fun Facts

I wall-papered my high school bedroom with ribbons I won in sheep and llama 4-H. (That’s a sign of a rural upbringing.)

I work in a library but I actually once stole library books. (Romance paperbacks. When I was a teen. Don’t tell my employers!)

I rescued two cats from a train station cabinet in Japan.

Also in Japan, my elementary students introduced me to manga. When I returned to the US, I read 400+ volumes in one year. Shonen ai is a guilty pleasure…

I knew I wanted to be a writer during the sixth grade Young Author project when my classmates turned in two- to four-page stories and I turned in an eighty-page, single-spaced, illustrated Nancy Drew fan-fiction opus. “Wendy Drew” lived in a Swiss Family Robinson-style tree-house that was both in the woods of Eastern Washington and also on the sea shore. She owned a cat and a pine squirrel. Half way through the book, she invented a Star Wars speeder bike out of driftwood.

As a side-note, my cousin and I actually did find and help raise an abandoned baby pine squirrel.

I have yet to invent a Star Wars speeder bike out of drift wood.
